Sunday sunshine
Not much to report. Just an ordinary Sunday, albeit an especially nice sunny one.
Was just sitting outside on the balcony in the sun with a bowl of poached peaches and greek yoghurt, listening to the arcade fire, enjoying the peace and quiet - Lola is sleeping, and Bruno has taken Max and our visiting friends A and G down to the lake for an icecream and some people and duck watching.
We had our first fondue of the season last night, with the usual excessively high levels of cheesiness. And Bruno's parents returned from 2 weeks in Tuscany, bearing many beautiful goodies - hand-picked organic extra virgin olive oil, forest honey, grappa, biscotti, coffee and a blushing tray of peaches (now the aforementioned poached peachies).
Today is Suuser Suntig, which means that today in our town they are trampling the freshly-picked grapes for suuser (grape juice), from which they of course make wine. It is very sweet and gives you a great sugar rush. I'm not sure if we can be bothered to go, but I did pick up a bottle of already-trampled suuser in the local shop yesterday, so surely that counts as participating in a local custom?
Your *ordinary* Sunday would be rather *extraordinary* for me. Maybe I should have married a European. Sigh.

Mmm, I love suuser -- just bought some last week although there's no smashing of grapes in my town (that I know of). And my father-in-law just got back from two weeks in Tuscany too. What a small country this is.

The first fondue of winter is rather like the first cuckoo of spring.

I said to my Swiss hubby the other day we should have fondue soon before it gets too hot!! I love cheese fondue.....just not how it sits in a big ball in your tummy for ages!!! One weekend in Switzerland we were invited to dinner on Friday and Saturday nights......both served Cheese fondue...we didn't feel too good on Sunday. We should have drunk more tea with it rather than wine and schnapps!!
