Checking in
It's been an age since I last posted, and why? Just got out of the habit I spose.
So what's been happening? A quick round-up:
- Lots of school stuff. Max is going great guns at school and can now read and do basic maths etc after only 3 months of school. I love that he can now read comics, because we all love comics in this house. Ok it will be a while before he gets to this or this, but it's a start. I sense a family tradition coming on.
- We've recently had a visit from the Tooth Fairy - one of Max's front teeth finally fell out, after being wiggly for at least 6 months. The Tooth Fairy was so relieved it was finally out that she left a bumper bonus.
- Plans are well under way for Mum and Dad's visit in July. The kiddies can't wait - inevitably we have one or the other of them crying every night wishing Nana and Poppa were already here. Not sure Mum and Dad will be able to leave at the end of their trip, or if they do, it will be with one child hanging off each leg.
- Lolly is gearing up for kindergarten. She knows that she starts in August, so everyday she asks me if she is going to kindy TODAY. I can't believe my baby will be starting her schooling career this year, walking to kindy alone (altho never actually alone - there are 3 0r 4 other kiddies from our street starting at the same time, and I imagine they will all walk together, stopping to look at every snail, plant and rock along the way) and being a big kid.
- The search thus begins for a job of some sort for me, tricky because I don't want to work full-time and part-time jobs are hard to find around here.
- We are watching this and this.
- I can't stop listening to The National! Love 'em.
- A few friends and I have started a book club, and it's so nice to be talking books with other people.
- Our household has been eating far too many brownies.
- Despite the above, I am not renewing my gym membership. I'm just really far too lazy.
This afternoon the kids and I are off to Zürich in search of a blue Power Ranger (Max's latest obsession) and some swimming toys (sticks and things to dive for) as both Lola and Max now have lessons on Monday afternoons. I can't say I enjoy Mondays!
Have a nice weekend.
I'm so glad every time you post because I love your photos!

I think you might like a recent book by Barbara Kingsolver: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A year of food life. It's great! maybe an idea for your bookclub. Anyway, thanks for your blog.

I'm so jealous you have a bookclub. Some of my friends in Brisbane have started a book club since I've been gone (remember Janette?) and I wish I was there for it. So, I'm trying to start my own in London but I don't know too many people here. Paul, bless him, says he'll be in it, but the two of us is not quite a book club yet!
Good luck with the jobhunt for when Lola starts kindy.
Oh, and Flight of the Conchords is very funny! Glad to see you've been watching it.
