I could see this walking around on an old bookshelf of Bruno's that we sadly left behind in Oz. If only we could magic it over here, I would buy the elephant just to place it on the bookshelf.

I love that bookcase we left behind. Bruno made it out of old wood and it's beautiful. In our house here we have a lot of this furniture, and while I love it, I'm not into that totally modern everything chrome-steel-and-glass look. I like some texture and warmth, too. Not sure if we will ever manage to get that bookcase over here, unfortunately though. It would probably be easier for bruno to make a new bookcase.

Max made this cute spiky hedgehog out of a chestnut and some toothpicks.
It is vermicelle season at the moment - bruno's favourite. Take a tube of chestnut paste (sold in rolls), squeeze through a gadget not unlike a giant garlic press so that it comes out in 'worms' and then eat with a scoop of icecream or whipped cream. The shops here sell vermicelles in little pastry cases with a swirl of whipped cream on top.

Pretty as a picture.
Autumn days are beautiful, especially with the promise of chestnuts, fresh fizzy grape juice, fondue, bitter red chicory, walnuts and pumpkins as we descend into winter.
Loving the clouds at the moment, now that they arent hanging around at house level!

These japanese maple trees turn such an unbelievable shade of red in autumn, you have to see it to believe it.

Today we went for lunch at Bruno's parents, and walked there and back. It was a truly lovely day.

Off to the mountains at the end of the week for some fresh mountain air, fondue, and maybe even some snow...
