this post caused me to run home and make toast for lunch! i know what you mean about yr teeth dissolving... it's even worse when you know full well what went into the jam that yr heaping by the spoonful onto yr toast, isn't it? ;)

I agree. Toast is a classic and not appreciated enough. My personal favorite is the kind my dad makes around Christmas every year. It's dense, but not too dense, and the butter soaks into the warm bread... Getting hungry just thinking about it!

Have you tried pepper toast? Freshly ground pepper over hot buttered toast is delicious.Really.articularly with all manner of teas.
