finally, a chance to blog. not many exciting eats in the last week or so though, because we've had the most shocking weather and been fighting off an awful lurgy which has swept through the family (grandparents and visitors included). this evening i was so exhausted i resorted to what counts as fast food for us here - fresh spinach and ricotta ravioli (takes 2 mins to cook) and a jar (!) of pasta sauce. i haven't had a jar of pasta sauce in years and now i remember why.....
this morning, however, my lovely friend michael and i had the chance to make a cake while lola was sleeping off her version of the dreaded lurgy. we were unoriginal and chose to make another of the yoghurt cakes which are my favourite of late - this time with blueberries and cherries.
this is before: i love how the berries sit on the surface. they disappear down into the batter as the cake cooks.
and this is after: not a berry in sight on the top!
we could barely wait until it cooled. i cut us big pieces which we scoffed whle still hot. then i wrapped up a big piece for michael to eat on the plane back to london. hope it survived the trip, michael!
That cake looks scrumptious! If it's made with yogurt, does that make it at least slightly lower in carbs and fat? Please say yes...I'm desperately seeking good low fat, low carb dessert recipes.

umm....there's quite a bit of butter in it (125g) and 1 cup of flour so perhaps not really low fat or carb, sorry!
do nuts count as carbs? if not, then i have an awesome orange and almond cake recipe which has no flour and no butter - it has almond meal and LOTS of eggs to hold it all together. i'll post it when i get the chance, it's delicious.

Thank you for the divine recipe. I made my cake with (frozen) blueberries and a few raspberries and my 2 kids and I ate it on a cold and rainy Melbourne afternoon for dinner.
